a chinese speaking medical intern
So I found out yesterday that the hospital I'm working at this summer not only thinks I speak Chinese fluently, but also thinks I'm going to be a medical intern this summer doing rounds, shadowing doctors and assisting on surgeries. At least it will be an interesting experience...

Maria's Song
"The dancers are presenting the purest form of art imaginable: art simply and truly for the sake of art...They managed to punch right through my cynicism and show me that good things are still out there and there are good people in the world...In a small way, I have a deeper understanding of what it is to be human because of the actions of 200 fellow humans in a train station in Belgium."
I couldn't agree more. I love people. This is wonderful.

not so secret
You know the thing about a secret blog? It's supposed to be secret. So what happens when it's discovered? If I disappear for a while, I may actually have locked myself in a cave...

so when did this happen?
When I signed on to this whole dating thing, I wasn't expecting it to suck so much when it ended. Life kind of sucks some times. I wish I could disappear into a cave. Just for a while.

It's time to bow out, Limbaugh
There are few people that make me physically ill when I see them or hear them speak. But Rush Limbaugh has won this place in my heart time and time again. From his parody song, "Barack, the magic Negro" to his disgusting speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference last weekend. I'm a registered Democrat, but have very little malice for the Republican party. Ideologically I place myself in the libertarian range of the spectrum, but until the Republican party stops vetting such men as Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and Sarah Palin, I can't vote for their candidates.
I'm going to go watch Mulan II and stop thinking about that disgusting, sweaty man.

Gail Collins=my hero
"Accepting eternal damnation in return for a career as a state senator was a little like swapping your house for a pair of socks."
"Years ago, when I was a reporter, I remember getting a call from a woman in the Bronx who was screaming: “They’re over on Moshulu Parkway planting dead trees!” Sure enough, a city work crew was digging holes along the side of the street and carefully sticking in brown and dried-up pieces of foliage. The men claimed the trees had simply lost their leaves for the winter — an explanation somewhat undermined by the fact that they were evergreens."

oh sylvia! yes micky...
What is Patrick Swayze's best movie? I personally think the man who dances, acts and has a great head of hair can never go wrong, but as time goes by and his health deteriorates, I feel we need to fully appreciate the ghost himself. Cheers to the you, Pat.

empathy or buzz kill?
So I'm not sure what it was about the past couple weeks that caused such a stir, but for some reason many of my close friends seem to be facing sad and lonely times. I feel bad being so happy and content with life when people I care about are so miserable. I hope everyone perks up and life gets an electric jolt. Loves

cheers! or not?
Did you know that 1 in 4 women will be raped or sexually assaulted? and of those events, 3/4 of them are alcohol related.
Do you think this is a valid reason not to drink? I can't see the connection. And I can't help but thinking you judge me for drinking when you think I'm going to get raped. These things are not mutually exclusive.

so i dream of going back to be
the rose is a rose
and was always a rose.
but the theory now goes
that the apple's a rose,
and the pear is, and so's
the plum, I suppose.
the dear only knows
what will next prove a rose.
You, of course, are a rose--
But were always a rose.
-Robert Frost
what is better than a Robert Frost poem on a bad day? I can't think of anything.
So I was once myself a swinger of birches
and so I dream of going back to be...
think about it.

Quantum Mechanics, yea go fuck yourself
So, I'm taking this class that's masquerading as a chemistry class, but is really a math and physics class. What do I care about the Euler relationships? or complex solutions to differential equations? well, the fact is that I don't care. Take that Charlie Sykes and Euler. I don't care.

It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow
What is it about falling snow that's so calming? I woke this morning with my left arm aching from where they poked me and drew away my life source, concern for my lack of ability to speak spanish, worry for my abysmal econ professor and irritation that my chemistry class is becoming more and more like my dreaded physics class from last semester. Now I sit in my window niche, watching, "Guess who's coming to Dinner?" and gaze at the falling snow. My only concern is that I may not find a man as wonderful as Sydney Pointier. I think that's a worry I can handle.

masturbation?
"Oh, there's a vibrator on the floor?" -Hunter
Is it a problem that our room has been dubbed the, "masturbation room?" That's what happens when all three of us by vibrators on the day we get drunk and tell all our friends.
well, at least we won't get acne...

Blast from the undead past
I was under the firm belief that my appreciation of the science fiction genre, more specifically vampire stories, was a one time obsession with the recent twilight series. I was recently reminded that Edward was not my first. No, the first vampire to catch my eye would be none other than the illustrious Angel on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. With my abundance of free time, I've been watching the first season on Hulu. It brings me back to the days when I watched to get the quickest glimpse of David Boreanes as he played the brooding vampire with a soul. This has been a break of reminders of years past. Keep 'em coming.
